A Portrait of Jesus
Colossians 3:10 (New International Version)
10..and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
Colossians 3:12-14 (New Century Version)
12 God has chosen you and made you his holy people. He loves you. So you should always clothe yourselves with mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 Bear with each other, and forgive each other. If someone does wrong to you, forgive that person because the Lord forgave you. 14 Even more than all this, clothe yourself in love. Love is what holds you all together in perfect unity.
I've always loved this passage of scripture (Colossians 3:12-14) but this morning it seemed even more lovely as I saw that the New Self, spoken of in verse 10, which is made in the image of it's Creator, is formed by the putting on of the beautiful clothing of verses 12-14.
As we get up in the morning, let us take care to put on these royal clothes and we shall begin to bear the image of the King.
For I would seek the beauty of my Lord,
And hear him speak, who is my heart's Adored.
