Genesis 21
The Birth of Isaac

1Then the LORD did exactly what he had promised. 2Sarah became pregnant, and she gave a son to Abraham in his old age. It all happened at the time God had said it would...

"Then the Lord did exactly what he had promised. " I love it! All of the anxiety, doubt, "help" (by offering Abraham another way to father a son), were unnecessary - of course. When God says that he will do something, he does it. He was not hurried along one second by the stressful strivings and disastrous designing of Abraham and Sarah.

Prayer: Lord, please give me a heart that trusts you perfectly, that rests in the full knowledge of who you are. How sad that what should have been a joyous party to celebrate Isaac's birth, was overshadowed by a constant reminder of Abraham and Sarah's failure to trust, in the form of Ishmael, who mocked Isaac.

56"Praise the LORD who has given rest to his people Israel, just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the wonderful promises he gave through his servant Moses.
