The Colours Bled!

Proverbs 8:34 (New International Version)
34 Blessed is the man who listens to me,
watching daily at my doors,
waiting at my doorway.

From the quiet, peace and gentle rain of an English village last week--into a first week back at work, filled so far with intensity, crisis, pressure and conflict.

While on vacation in England I made some of my friends laugh when I took the time to reflect on my normally very busy life. I had tried to organize it better by charting it on an Excel spreadsheet with blocks of colours that signalled boundaries and categories.

It looked so possible--if I tried hard not to waste time, dally too much, or get distracted.

The truth is that the colours bled and life throws more wild cards than I could catch even if I was an octopus. Perhaps there was a missing colour on my chart--bright, shocking pink for the wild cards.

So I look to God. To whom else should I go? He is my source of strength--my only hope.

I give him my life, my weak frame with all of its' limitations--and even my "charted life." It's all his; and I know that he cares for what is his.

Dear Lord, I need your wisdom, strength and power.

Psalm 123:2 (New International Version)
2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a maid look to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the LORD our God,
till he shows us his mercy.

Belinda, God is our refuge and strength, keep Trusting Him alone. PS 71 gave me my strength this morning. To God be the glory

Hi Ho Bo....if colors never bled we wouldn't have purple, orange, mauve and we could go on. Life in only primary colors wouldn't be as nice a world to be in as one filled with so much variety....and beauty of who we all are in Christ. It sounds weird to finish with "Bleed on!"

"Bleed on" indeed MacDuff! I'm still reading Psalm 71, but suddenly bleeding doesn't sound so bad. I quite like purple!

So does God like purple. I'm sure he does. But not in bathrooms. (I used to live in a house with purple fixtures in the bathroom and I was convinced I hated that colour and that God must too -- until I realized it was quite nice in other places. Like on the end of an aster stem.)

I'm with Irene. Bleeding's good. Jesus bled. Thank God for that or we'd all be toast! And I'm kind of glad your chart bled. It would be so hard to have a perfect friend. I know because I used to have one. :o) And what would you ever do without a dash or two of ORANGE in your life?

My verse today (which arrived in the mail as part of an encouraging note from a friend) is Psalm 18:2. "The Lord is my ROCK, my FORTRESS, and my DELIVERER. God is my rock in whom I take refuge."
OK, I remember, Belinda, when you were first telling me about getting a computer organizer thingy ( I don't even remember what it was called ) Because of your enthusiasm I couldn't tell you that I don't need one of those because I have the same schedule every day ...

Get up

Get through.

Get sleep.

If I manage those three, I'm winning.

Oh dear, you remember that conversation?! :)

That's so funny, and I like your three things. Hmmm, I wonder what three colours they would be? Just kidding!
