Come With Me for Your Good

By Belinda

I've wanted to post this excerpt from a prayer from The Valley of Visionsince I read it in December, I loved it so much. But this seems the perfect time to share it.

As Paul and I prayed this morning at breakfast, I thought about how easy it can be to sink into a kind of meanness of spirit if you are not careful, even over something innocent. I am all too prone to that, and so the prayer inspired me. Here it is:

May I render my profession of the gospel not only impressive, but amiable and inviting.
May I hold forth the way of Jesus with my temper as well as my tongue, with my life as well as my lips
May I say to all I meet,
I am journeying towards God's given place,
Come with me for your good...
May I be in character and conduct like:
the dew of heaven
the salt of the earth
the light of the world,
the fullness of the fountain...
May I see all things in a divine light so that they may inform my judgement and sanctify my heart.

And may I always remember and be ready to say, "I am a bunny eater too." :)

Lovely prayer. It gets away from us, the vision. Prayer reconnects, reminds, restores, reignites our passion to be and do all these things.
Susan, I have to say I don't follow!

Dave, no wonder! It must sound very funny, especially to a vegetarian. I think that I must write a blog post to explain.

I think you did write a blog post. A long time ago. Didn't you?
