Hosanna

By Belinda

It was 15 minutes from the end of Da Vinci’s Inquest when my inner alarm clock went off and jolted me from my focus on one of my favourite television programs. Okay, I am an addict, I confess. After teasing Paul for his nightly appointment with Dominic Da Vinci, I made the fatal mistake of watching it myself and became hooked!

The alarm clock...it is faulty, but it kicks in now and then, and it was urgently telling me that worship practice would be starting in 15 minutes. With Paul's assurance as I left, that he would tell me how it ended, I thought to myself, "Ha! It never ends!" The secret of my addiction is that there are loose threads dangling at the end of each program.

I didn't really mind leaving. I had been listening to the CD of new songs that the worship team is learning and I don't think I will ever get over the sheer joy I feel at singing beautiful songs with this team of worshippers. I love worshiping God in song--have done ever since I was a child and used to sit on the stairs and sing hymns to Mum while she cleaned the bedrooms.

So tonight Paivi and Cindy were on my left, singing their gorgeous alto harmonies, and Frances on my right with her beautiful voice, and Susan sitting beside her focused on the words of the new song we were learning and helping us get it right. Cheryl was facing all of us and leading, and Charliene and Esther were on keyboard and piano. I was singing the only thing I can; melody; and thinking, "Does it get any better than this moment--right here, right now?"

One of the songs we learned was Hosanna, by Paul Baloche and someone asked, "What does "hosanna" mean?"

A variety of opinions were shared.

I said, "I think it just means, "Praise God.'"

"You should write about that on your blog tonight," said Cheryl, "the meaning of 'Hosanna.'"

Susan asked, "Are you taking suggestions for blog posts now?"

And I said, "Yes, if they are inspired and I need inspiration!"

And that is why I'm writing this. To say that I was right about the meaning--and to share the song we learned. Happy Thursday every body!
